PALMS DAY CENTRE

Palms is a Community based Day Centre facility providing services to vulnerable older people in the greater Lurgan area.

Delivered under contract with Southern Trust we pride ourselves in offering our service users with quality care & support.

We aim to provide each service user with mental and physical stimulation, to foster a sense of enjoyment while also providing respite for family members who act as carers.

The facility operates each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and caters for up to 14 clients daily. Service users participate in planned activities and also get healthy meals when onsite. Places are allocated after referral from the local Social Work Team and suitability assessments etc.

The Day Centre is fully registered with, and regulated by, the Regulation & Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA). This means the Centre is inspected on a regular basis for your confidence & assurance.

GOOD RELATIONS PROJECTS

We recognise our town still carries a legacy of the Troubles and the sectarian divisions of the past. For over 30 years we have been helping PUL/CNR communities rebuild trust and relationships.

SPCA is a regionally recognised as a peace building organisation and has an excellent track record in this regard.

We achieve this via a range of educational programmes, mediation sessions, mentoring for Community Leaders, Conflict Management Training, Conferencing and much more.

“NEW COMERS” PROJECT

There are now many new communities who are proud to call Lurgan their home. The variety of cultural and ethnic diversity in our town has never been greater and we seek to celebrate the positives of this fact whilst addressing the challenges which often accompany demographic change.

In recent years we have been supporting minority ethnic community groups to develop their capacity and facilitate social inclusion. We work hard to develop new projects on diversity issues, to deliver support in response to identified needs such as training or community celebration events.

We are committed to working in partnership with other local organisations with expertise in this area where necessary, to ensure better communication, best use of resources and most effective outcomes.
